The theme is Inner Peace, Outer Violence
You must civilise the mind but make savage the body.
When we train and compete, we should feel internally calm and at peace, while externally, our actions are violent. We mean no ill will to our opponents but joint locks and strangles are inherently violent.
This theme also celebrates the curious juxtaposition between peace and violence in the way that our training in the art of violence, brings us peace, and brings us ever closer together as friends and communities.
